We passed through a lovely quiet garden then past the Grand Palace and Petit Palace and down into the Jardin Tuilleries where the kids found a playground we had visited on our previous trip!
There was a massive police presence (think hundreds of blokes with guns!!) in the city, and wondered what might have been happening. I thought perhaps it was a visiting big shot and we saw on the news last night that Vladimir Putin was in town. Mystery solved!
Time for some culture- so through the shopping mall under the Louvre where an alternative entrance has shorter lines. There is another pyramid down there too.
I opted instead for a priority ticket and no queue at all! We were through the pyramid and in the museum within 5 minutes.
I was pleasantly surprised to find it relatively free of crowds and we spent a couple of hours wandering around.
Amy and Baz found an ancient set of goal posts.
Napoleons Apartments were just stunning, chandelier after chandelier!
Nice view across the city.
The kids were surprised that a statue with no arms was so special. Not to mention having seen so many statues of naked people, and also many pieces with missing heads and limbs!
The day was rounded out with a late Bistro lunch and the walk home- daily total up around 12km.
Jack and I stepped out later in the evening to source some dinner ingredients- I'm not sure I could get sick of this sight stepping out of our front door. The Eiffel tower also sparkles every hour. Jack said it looked like hundreds of camera flashes going off.
Today has again dawned bright and clear. As soon as we finish listening to Roy and HG call the AFL Grand Final (the Eagles were never in it!!!) we plan to shop at the Saxe- Breteuil food market and Baz has booked in a hair cut for 11am. I'm interested to see the Parisian take on a number 3.
