Segway through Madrid by Amy

Hi it is Amy here! We did a segway tour. First we had to learn how to use them. He told us that to go forward you have to leen forward and to go backwards you leen backwards. But the hardest part was to stop because you had to lean backwards and point your toes up to the sky.

The first stop was at the palace. Police and horses out the front and we got a bit of free time and I think the Segways spooked the horses a bit. Here's where Amy bows out.... Short attention span!

The Temple of Debod was next, it was relocated to Madrid after Egypt needed to flood a historic area when they built a massive dam. The temple was a tribute to the sun god Ra so has been reconstructed facing the right way so the sun sets through the temple.

This is the buildimg that was the first Madrid skyscraper- not the tallest now but was for many years. Seeing as Amy has taken so long to write this blog the plaza name has escaped me!! It was also surrounded by olive trees.

A fab day had by all of us, with many city sights covered in a short time. I'm now busy trying to find a similar outing in Paris!
