Nice to see you again Invader

Amy started the day by spotting the first space invader for the trip- straight from our apartment window!

We set off on foot to explore Bilbao and especially check out the Guggenheim and quickly found another invader along the river side walk. It was like meeting an old friend again and it still keeps the kids distracted looking out for them on our long walks.

Unfortunately the travel planner (yes me!) stuffed days up and the museum was closed for visitors today, but I was the only one dissapointed as we all enjoyed the walk around the building itself, and the kids had a great play in the playground. They had no interest in any exhibitions!

Lucky for that hapless tour guide, the street art around Bilbao (including a couple more invaders) more than made up for missing the museum.

We also took the funicular railway up the hill for a great view of the whole town- it was only a few minutes each way.

After some more Pintxos for lunch (though we are ordering a little better now) and the obligatory afternoon snooze, it was off again to further explore the old town, and give the kids a last run around and a gigantic pizza dinner.

All in all we found Bilbao to be a really lovely place to be, and would definitely like to come back for a longer stay in the future. The people were friendly and very patient with my AWFUL attempts at Spanish, the food was great and the prices very reasonable. Off to Barcelona tomorrow morning so hopefully this trend continues!
