La Vida Tranquilice

Our final day in Barcelona, and we are indulging in a relax and regroup.

The day started with a yummy buffet brekky in our hotel- Amy was so excited about the prospect of this she was up early!

Boys are still crook, though Baz seems on the mend somewhat so I coaxed (forced) everyone out of the room for a walk to Jardins del Turo del Puxtet- about 2km away but some seriously steep inclines and stairs along the way- unfortunately google maps didn't show the escalators that we discovered arriving up an alternative route until it was too late and we had made it to the top on our own legs!

The part we walked through was 'bush' and paths with locals walking their dogs and enjoying a break high above the city. The outlook really gave Jack and Amy an overview of the city and perspective on how big the Sagrada Familia is.

Thankfully the walk back towards our hotel was downhill, and passed through another local market and lovely quiet streets before stopping at the park for some refreshments, and so Amy could pop a few handstands out. This mural was a feature in a local motorbike repair shop- very cute!

We were struck by this little cafe adjacent to the park. Loads of families enjoying a catch up in the sunshine, some with a beer and others not. But all very civilised and we enjoyed a happy hour and a half sitting there before backtracking to a Japanese we had noticed on our walk. Imagine Perth allowing such decadent enjoyment of life in a public park?

The Japanese food was fantastic, up there with some of the best sashimi I have enjoyed anywhere. Their sushi chef was carefully hand shredding daikon radish as we left. Painstaking and elegant!

And by the looks and flavour of the tempura that appeared from the kitchen they had a tempura chef hidden away too. We have been enjoying the local treats but it was nice to have a 'clean' meal.

Our plans for the afternoon are to siesta, swim in the pool and take an early night as we have to leave for our Seville flight at 7:30am. We have really enjoyed meeting you Barcelona.

  1. Can I please come on holiday with you next time? I doubt I would never find a Japanese treasure in the midst of Barcelona!
